What you are agreeing to
Scanlings is free to play. By using it you agree to these terms and to the privacy policy, which explains what is stored.
You need to be 16 or older to use Scanlings, or to have permission from a parent or guardian.
Your account and your name
You choose a display name, and it is public if you appear on the leaderboards. Pick something you are happy for other players to see. We may change or remove a name that impersonates somebody, is abusive, or is chosen to make the boards unpleasant to read.
You can delete your account from inside the game at any time.
Playing fairly
The game is a game. Do not attempt to fabricate scans, automate the client, interfere with other players, or attack the service. If you do, we may remove your account and its entries from the leaderboards.
Scan responsibly. Scanlings reads barcodes on things around you — it is not a reason to go anywhere you should not be, or to handle anything that is not yours.
What the creatures are
Every creature is computed from the digits of a barcode. We do not look up products, brands or manufacturers, and a creature is not connected to whatever the barcode was printed on. The creatures, their names and their artwork are ours.
Nothing is guaranteed
Scanlings is provided as it is. It may be unavailable, it may change, and features may be added or removed. It is a game rather than a service anybody depends on, and it is offered without warranty to the extent the law allows. Nothing here limits rights you have under mandatory consumer law where you live.
Nothing is sold in Scanlings today. If that changes, this page will say what is bought and how refunds work before anything is offered.
Changes
If these terms change, this page changes and the date at the top moves. This page has one permanent address, so a link to it does not go stale.
